I’ve walked past this many times and often wondered if it is worth digging out, it looks like it has been filled in rather than suffered a collapse, perhaps someone on here might know more about it?

Does anyone know what was here and why it’s been blocked off? It’s on the footpath behind Hall Leys park in Matlock.

Does anyone have any information about the mine a couple of hundred yards down the footpath from Roystone Grange, heading towards Ballidon? It’s on the hill up to the right. I cannot find it on any maps or on the Peak District Caving website.
