    Petzl Aven/Superavanti Buckle Covers

I disagree there have been multiple reports of the leg loops becoming undone entirely, if your half way up a pitch and a leg comes undone.... major issue.

    Petzl Aven/Superavanti Buckle Covers

The issue there is if a cheaper product to produce allows the price of the item at retail to remain the same then that product isn't fit for purpose, therefore requiring additional parts such as the buckle covers... which at a guess would of now cost more to design, test and produce than the few...

    Petzl Aven/Superavanti Buckle Covers

Nylon is the more abrasion resistant material, and around 20 -30 % more expensive than polyester equivalents... Tests have shown polyester cloth of let's say 600d thickness shows considerable wear after a given test. While a 500D nylon shows limited wear in the same tests. Sorry but as much...

    Petzl Aven/Superavanti Buckle Covers

I agree, they are one of the biggest names out there with a good reputation. I still feel however that their reputation may be slipping in the recent months and years with multiple recalls, safety concerns and design issues becoming more frequent. Don't get me wrong, every producer of...

9mm Type B rope with common ascenders

Ah OK. Will just have to keep an eye out then. Thanks for the reply.

9mm Type B rope with common ascenders

Your correct, due to the nature of its elongation % it can't pass EN standards at current along with it being under 8.5mm of course. Just last week I saw a couple using a 7.8mm line in the Peaks, semi static. Rope technology has moved on a fair bit in the past few years and the EN standards...

    Hidden Earth 2024

Does anyone know when Hidden Earth 2024 dates will be announced? Have been keeping an eye out since the last one but can't see anything yet? Cheers

9mm Type B rope with common ascenders

Very well put. I use a 8mm hyperstatic for caving and canyoning. It is highly abrasion resistant has under 1% elongation and handles incredibly well butbitbjsnt rated by EN standards for PPE as its under the 8.5mm criteria despite having almost twice the breaking strength of a EN rated 8.5mm...

    Petzl Aven/Superavanti Buckle Covers

This wouldnt of been needed if Petzl hadnt of cut corners, saved money and lowered quality in the first place. When the newer version of the avanti harnesses came out the webbing was thinner and shorter, saving money for Petzl while risking failures and ultimately peoles lives. Alot of petzl...

    GEO Headtorches

I have no doubt fenix will be here for many years to come, many business use them and will continue to do so. They make some great products after all. There are many torches out there with verious specs and life expectancy all at verious price tags. Some will last, some will not. Some will...

    GEO Headtorches

The list of kit I wish I hadn't bought is long, haha. I won't go into the most recent as its all over the forums already for it's now apparent dangerous issues. Big companies saving a few pennies at the risk of lives... Anyway, this is off topic and for another thread all toegther.

    GEO Headtorches

Just googled it... If that's what you feel, I will keep my questions and feedback to myself in the future. I was only trying to find out information and then feed back the experience for others to learn from. Is that what forums are for... Nevermind.

    GEO Headtorches

So here's an update I ordered the head torch on Tuesday evening and it arrived on Thursday, ace. I took it out this weekend on two trips, one per day. Saturday entailed a 5 hour round trip and Sunday was a 6 hour trip. I found that the unit gave ample light on 'medium flood' mode. I used...

Myself and another fellow caver are planning a two day trip to Wales. Day one we will be revisiting the CTT as we both love this trip. However day two is open and we would love suggestions for other great trips in the North / North East Wales area. Both competent cavers, both with proficient...
