Does anyone know where these hemispherical scaff clip protectors can be bought in or near the Dales; but maybe by mail order and preferably in small quantitites (say 40 off)?

Anyone know offhand where they grow in the Dales area? (Naylor Myers perhaps, at Bentham?)

I think you would be best calling in on a scaffold yard. They are often open to cash purchases on small items like them. Lancaster, Morecombe, Kendal all have yards. Google one up.
