Agen Allwedd - Priory Road information

Good afternoon all.
There's a semi-permanent camp used by CSS diggers located in Priory Road on the way to the Cathedral aven. This camp has been sanctioned by MLCMAC.

The diggers would like to ask that you try not to dip into our supplies or kit (as we have noticed somebody is eating our food).

If you have spare space in your bag, there are duct taped bottles at the top of the rope climb which need filling from Southern Streamway and depositing at camp. We would appreciate this dearly :)

Likewise, if you're interested in graft and promises of fortune contact me.

Yours aye,
Marsrat.

Another worthy note, all ladders and fixed aids from Ribbed Vault onwards are unsafe - I wouldn't recommend touching them with a bargepole.

It's very good to see a new caving generation taking a serious look at this promising area of the Llangattock caves. I'm afraid mine ran out of steam here in the 1990s. So wishing them the very best in finding those 'passages measureless' which are surely there in an upwards direction.

We're all standing on the shoulders on giants! I'll be sure to keep you in the loop the next time I bump into you at Whitewalls :)

Hats of to anyone willing to undertake Southern Stream Passage for the purposes of digging - doing it each way on a daytrip down to Priory Road several years ago was quite enough for me. It's not particularly difficult... just very long and boring!

Really pleased to hear work is still ongoing in the Priory Road area! Good luck!

My perception (which may be totally wrong) is that Aggie has fallen a little out of favour with younger cavers over recent years. Certainly, my own former student club always favoured OFD/Draenen/Daren. Therefore it's great to see the continued interest which may also inspire greater interest from others in this excellent cave (the Grand and Inner/Outer Circles are such superb adventures).

I'm a northern caver, but with a love for the South Wales caves too, and I'm sure I'm not alone in encouraging you to keep the entire community updated on here of how you are getting on via this forum... a good digging story makes for excellent lunchtime reading :)

You're always welcome to join us (if not to see Trafalgar + Corkscrew etc again), plenty of spare camping kit down there :)
Thank you for your kind words nonetheless!

Southern Stream got a lot easier after the Tim Flanagan rescue in 1981. A lot of passage tidying done to assist the recovery.
