Hi....this is my first go on the forum so this maybe old news. Our club had a trip to Tynings Barrow last eve and carbon dioxide levels seemed rather high.Cave very dry, much panting by cavers, air "tasted" stale. Hope info is of use.

Tynings is one of the first Mendip caves to exhibit bad air problems in the summer, I am surprised we haven't had bad air reports from other caves as well.

Thanks for the info, I would expect the lower parts of White pit and perhaps Cuckoo Cleeves are likely to be out of bounds at the moment as well. :(

Nowhere is presently out of bounds but thanks for the report re: Tynings Barrow Swallet. It's the first report of poor air on Mendip for 2006 summer season - this year has been much better than 2005 so far.

As Les rightly points out there will probably also be poor air in the "usual suspect" places - Cuckoo, White Pit, Honeymead, Little Crapnell and then possibly some of the wet caves where there are often reports - Manor Farm, GB, Swildon's - but so far it's just Tynings.

No doubt we'll hear more on this topic over the next few weeks+
