This is not a copy but the original log book bound in leather, anyone
know of it's signifigance, as i have also located one of the very first orginal log books of the Wookey dives with entrys by G.Balcome with actual loose photos with his writing on them!!!!

I am useless with books - have i got a gem??

I should say so!
Maybe not a huge monetry value, but historically very important.

Are you setting up a museum in you back room?

I would never sell anything like this, and like you say although it may have no real value in terms of money, it's still a very precious item.

A museum in my back room hey

I would if i could find room amongst the wetsuits, ladders, and other assorted clutter.

sounds like you have a great find, is there a museum any where in the country devoted entirely to caving and under ground exploration?

And if so would you be happy to donate such items?

im sure that loads of folk must have things tucked away that would be of a intreast to the public

Any thoughts ?

You don't necessarily have to donate - museums are often happy to have things on loan.

As to a caving museum, I don't know, but Craven had an interesting historical exhibition at Skipton a couple of months back.

I'd second Kay post:

Best to loan it to any museum - it remains yours then so less danger of it ending up lost in some dusty corner or even being sold or thrown out should the museum close or move etc.

Plus if it turns out to be worth a few quid you can always get it back and sell it!
