Come and say hello at Hidden Earth!

Hidden Earth is only three weeks away, and we’re so pleased to see our national caving conference back up and running for the first time since 2019 :)

We understand that the lecture schedule is almost full (only one or two small slots remaining for any last-minute submissions), so it looks set to be an awesome weekend.

There will be talks on discoveries in our northern regions, including the maze-cave discoveries at The Stang between Reeth and Barnard Castle, where the team may be on the verge of the next big master cave, and some major extensions to Fairy Holes in Weardale, including the discovery of sizable new river passage, and more finds in the North York Moors. There’s also the Northern Roundup, by Frank Pearson and the Scottish Roundup by Alan Jeffreys.

Once again CNCC will be attending to showcase the work we have been involved with or have supported since the last Hidden Earth, covering conservation, training, access, anchoring and promoting caving.

In particular, we will have leaflets to promote our new ‘Try Caving’ events that now form a standard part of our training offerings, which can be taken away and handed out to any potential newcomers who are keen to try caving in northern England.

The CNCC stall won’t be staffed for the full conference (we also like to go to lectures, shop for new caving kit, and drink beer). However, several members of our team are attending and we will try to have someone on-hand at the stall as much as possible. Please do say hello, ask any questions or make any suggestions.

(Ps; whoever left the anonomous suggestion in 2019 of a CNCC-funded ski-lift to the top of Kingsdale... we regret we haven't made much progress on that yet).

Tickets are available to buy now (for Hidden Earth, not the ski-lift!) and we look forward to seeing lots of you in Portishead on 15-17th September!
