DistoX problem uploading calibration coefficients

Hi, has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it? I built the my DistoX back in 2108 for a specific purpose but it took me ages to source a battery and by the time I acquired the battery the caves I was going to survey were no longer accessible. Recently the opportunity arose again so I completed the build and it seems to work fine. I can download the data, I can carry out the calibration and download it to my laptop without issue. The problem is after I have pressed the "evaluate" button and then try to upload the coefficients to the Disto unit as small window reads "communication failed".

I have also found that none of the instrument control commands in the software work either. For instance I can't enter calibration mode from the PocketTopo software I have to use the key pad. Any ideas anyone.?

I know it might not lead to the solution you're looking for, but have you tried it with TopoDroid?

It's a lot more of a complicated app to use, but it's so much better it's worth the learning effort.

Sounds like your using a personal computer (pc) rather that a pda for the use of pockettopo. Pockettopo is best used on a pda. Thereby you can obtain real time data and evaluate at the time rather than download the data after calibration.

From arms length without speaking to you it seems like you are entering calibration mode on Disto irrespective of data collection. Then entering calibration mode with pc in pockettopo and asking it to download the data, I’m not quite sure it works like that.

As rob says having either a pda running pockettopo and collecting calibration data as you’re going or an android phone running either topodroid or sexytopo in calibration mode, will allow you to collect data as you’re in the cave then “push” them up to the device as the correct calibration.

Having re-read your message, it could be in the Bluetooth connectivity, the “com port” could be the issue. I’m sozzled and without my pda, so cannot guide you through for 24 hours, hope that’s ok, let me know (by personal message) if you need it before then and I’m sure we’ll be able to sort you out. I know people to ring for rapid solutions!
