Found a Welly

One of the most ghastly experiences I ever had was searching the canal in Birkwith during a rescue. I was in full diving gear groping along the bottom in zero visibility looking for a dead body.....and it seemed like every few metres I found an old welly, which I then had to gingerly feel to see whether it had a leg in or not!
Had a simillar experiance down the flooded shaft in Knotlow. the offending tacklebag really did look like an oversuit enclosed leg.

while exploring a new 60 foot shaft situated directly on a winter ski run in the german alps, imagine our shock to find the tip of a ski sticking out of the ice cone at the base of the shaft. It took many minutes of hacking and scratching to convince ourselves that there wasn't a misfortunate skier still attached to said ski. Was a bit of a worry though

There were quite a few in there, so losing a welly is obviously a regular occurance.

Urrghhh! I suppose some has to, I don't think I'll be able to swim down birkwith with quite the same enjoyment anymore!
