On a recent visit, after turning left and climbing over boulders, just before a climb down, I noticed a rift entering up on the left.  The rift looks promising but the climb to it probably would need some tackle.  Anyone know where it goes?

I'm probably going to Illusion next wednesday evening, so I'll have a look and report back later.

Well I did go, but unfortunately got rather side tracked and didn't check out your lead... Sorry.

I will try and make a trip back soon to actually have a look. When I do, I'll post what I find out here and send you a PM to let you know. (Unless of course somebody else reports back sooner.)

The water level on Wednesday was exceedingly low - we barely even got wet in the entrance 'duck' - it was only a few inches deep. The sump at the end of Boottrapper Passage was very low too and we went considerably further down the passage before it actually sumped.

Two things that have gone since my last trip there were the boulder in the entrance 'duck', and the rope that hangs down the far side of the bottom chamber (after climbing down from the rift passage as you head towards Boottrapper the rope was on the first of two climbs).

Apologies again for not doing a thorough search for you....

No problem.  When I was there, even after some moderate rain, the duck was only 3-4 inches deep.  I doubt if I'll be going in the near future, so best of luck.

Last time I went the duck was sumped and took quite a while to bail to even a desperate air space.  I got very cold and wet!It sounds a lot nicer at the moment, I shall have to pop back!

I was there on Sunday and the duck was nothing more than a crawl through gloop with loads of airspace. Unfortunately we were all soaking wet anyway from walking up the hill in the heat!  Top trip though  (y)

Given the current wet weather, does anybody know if the duck might be still passable without bailing the sump ?

I would be astonished if the duck was sumped at the moment!

Cheers,

George.

Went down today.  Very heavy rain overnight and showers today.  Very little water in the stream and the duck does not exist except as a crawl in very sticky mud.

My son had a look at the climb mentioned earlier.  Up a couple of metres then down a little then too tight.
However has any one climbed the inlet on the left at the top of the mud slope (left as you enter from the duck)?
It  may need bolting or a scaling pole but it looks interesting. :-\
