litter in Goatchurch

Went to Burrington and Goatchurch  today with the gang and was very dismayed at the amount of crap that was down there,  :( empty plastic pop bottles, dog ends and what looked to be the remains of a firework all in the top entrance down to giants. Brought it all back out with us. Did find a large piece of piping (looked like plastic downpipe) under the boulders against the back wall of water chamber but couldnt get to it, so had to leave it there.Only went there to get into orange peel passage and partly ended up doing litter patrol.

People smoking underground! Whatever next? They'll be setting off fireworks and "having a laugh". Goodness only knows what sort of people would do this type of thing.

(y)I agree its good to hear people actually being proactive. When we see litter we always bring it out, always seems to  sweet wrappers, why oh why people can't just shove it in their pockets and take it out I don't know.

Hello spongebob, Ask cap 'n chris nicely, since he practically lives in Goatchurch, I'm positive he will sort it out for you  ;)

Surveying should reach Water Chamber shortly so I'll drag it out if I find it. I've decided to leave old digging materials in for the time being since they sort of a lend a sense of "history" to the places where digs have been done (just the usual - drag buckets, bit of rope, sort of stuff!). P.S. Had a look at the narrow crack linking Boulder Chamber (central hole route) into Water Chamber and it looks too narrow for me. It's a 4.46m drop BTW.

Treemonkey is the custodian of The Axbridge plug and feathers  :-\

I am sure The Axbridge would let you use them, after all The Axbridge were kind enough to lend The Axbridge Super-Drill to The South Bristol for the shoring operations in East Twin swallet.

Why would you wish to enlarge such a route, when anyone can reach it from both sides?

You are very perceptive Graham

I do not like  sumps
                  squeezes

hang on, that only leaves big drops, I am alright with them. :halo:

This has become a short non-topic; I only mentioned the squeeze since it was "new" to me - it's not an enlargeable squeeze since it follows an incline between large slabs which couldn't be engineered to yield and, as Graham has sagely queried, what's the point when it can be bypassed with a 30 second detour. It's for thin people and children (I guess a handline is advisable).

Is it suitable to lower babies down on a rope.
I know people who have taken a baby down to the bottom of Alum Pot.
I know other people who have taken a baby up a nine thousand foot mountain in France,
mind you,
there was that builder who had his baby on the roof, while he was retiling it but I think someone called the elf&saftey people.
Can't think Y.
