a join the dots thingy

Cheers, Les! I'd been trying to remember the correct technical term for what I had previously been labouring under the misconception was defined by the word "topo".

It wasn't me that coined the phrase, I was just repeating Whitelackingtons earlier offering. (y) (y)

Oops!, my mistake Les. Sincere apologies for jest-poking in your general direction.

Taketh the jest, Whitelackington, ye jest-absorber!....

He never said such a thing, wots wrong with bunny ears (cant remember proper name) its like a figure 8 but you grab the middle of the loop though the double loop and then bring the single remaining loop down to create something neat that looks like a chunky figure 8 with two loops. You lot know lol..

Q. Whats the best knot to use for a Y hang, bunny ears or that other one.
A. The one you can confidently tie the best! Everytime regardless of your physical and mental state I would say.

Basic 'bunny ears' is a bowline on the bight.

The slightly more secure version that DP means (I think) is called a fig-8 on the bight.

This is less prone to allowing the rope to suddenly slide through the knot under abnormal loading and leave you with one big loop and the knot under one belay point.

Some sites use the name Fig8otB to refer to  fig8 loop knot, technically speaking the name does indeed describe this.

The Double Figure Eight Loop ("Bunny Ears") -  ;) Yeah thats the one I like, looks neat and 'ard to me.
Plan to do Hunters once I have more rope in the next couple of weeks, if any one who has been down before is planning to go give me a PM.

When I was taught s.r.t. by Dave Elliot, more than twenty years ago, he didn't mention "Bunny Ears",
nor when he later wrote a book did they get a mention.
