Update on Limekiln Lane that runs past Fairy Cave Quarry. It is now passable with care, provide you haven't got a large vehicle. The two trees that took the wall down by the old Cerberus/quarryman's cottages have been removed and the rocks etc pushed a bit to one side. The various trees blocking the road further up the hill have been removed. There still remains however a large tree bridging across the road that cars and possibly vans can pass beneath. If you are approaching Fairy Cave Quarry from the North ie driving up hill be very aware of a very deep pothole on the lef-hand side - without exaggeration it is at least 6in deep. Will report to highways in due course.
Bloody pot hole caught us out. Twice !

Lancaster Hole was wet on the entrance pitch yesterday. It looked as if the main streamway water might have welled up to the bottom of Fall Pot some hours earlier but it had gone down again. Impressive rumbling in the high levels beyond.

It was worse on Saturday, according to those of our group who went down on both days - only just about feasible to go up. Cow Pot was pretty wet as well on Saturday; with waterfalls coming down the tube right below first pitch - would have been very unpleasant (and probably not safe) to go back up. There was a roaring river at the bottom of Stop Pot, and the beck was closing in at the Wretched Rabbit entrance when we came out early evening. Some pretty impressive rumbling from the main drain all the way through as well, but otherwise pretty unremarkable on the high level route

The bottom of the Chapter House in Yordas on Saturday - didn't descend of course, but waded across the Main Chamber to have a nosey from the bottom

Surprised you could do that to be honest - I've been there several times with main chamber in Yordas full of water and a river issuing from the entrance! So the water levels won't have been that high if you could still access the main chamber

Interesting, thank you for posting this. I had previously thought Cow Pot was good as a wet weather trip.

Rickford Rising was up about half a metre on usual conditions yesterday, with visibility reduced to about 200mm, which made working with a 600mm drill bit rather interesting!
The night before, it was still running pretty much clear...

UB40 Cave. The flow from the cave is the waterfall on the left. In normal conditions you see no flow here. The other waterfall is surface drainage.

The rhymney is the closest headwaters to clydach gorge that has peak flow data, it was 5cm higher than previous record:
The rivers around SWCC had 3 reasonably big peaks in quick succession, rather than a single massive spike.
