    An informative discussion

Recently there was long thread about the BCA. I can now post possible answers to some of the questions, such as "Why is the BCA still raising membership prices when there is a significant amount still left in its coffers?"

If anyone has just the remote generator going spare (any make/model) - I'd be interested - I want one for STEM demonstrations and it would save me having to make one out of stuff. Making acetylene and setting fire to it is one of the more popular demonstrations I do.

If you happen to come across, say, a Fisma top half with no base, it may be useful to know that the bottom part of the relevant-sized classic "Zanzibar" coffee percolator has the same thread. This is the kind of thing I mean, although this particular one isn't necessarily the riight size: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Kabalo-350...ocphy=1006854&hvtargid=pla-715683216456&psc=1

If going down this route, probably best to take the Fisma top half into a shop that sells the percolators to check on the size. I'm sure they'd not mind one of the items on display being smeared with carbide residue.
Well, not too much . . .

If I'd seen this earlier, I could have brought one last night Duncan. Happy to lend one on a fairly long term basis, so long as it comes back in one piece at some point.

A mate of mine up north has just sent a message to tell me has has one and can bring it to the NEF23 gathering next weekend. I think this means he's willing to donate it permanently (but will need to check). Yours was offered on long term loan Pete, so maybe my mate can sort Duncan out for good?

So - Duncan, if you see this and would like a Fisma generator or Ariane generator organising from the Dales to Mendip, send me an email as soon as possible so I can be involved in arrangements and look into a caver post option for you.

Cool - I'll PM you. I happen to be in Huddersfield next Sunday (26th) until Wednesday (29th) if that works. Failing that there's bound to be someone coming down to the CDG AGM at the end of April.
