what is the most 'young adult' friendly caving club / hut in the UK

I've generally found it's much better to do the hard trip first and then the seshing afterwards.

Doing it the other way around can put a damper on both.

Yep! I'm totally capable of hard caving after a big session, but I'll be miserable the whole way through 😂 much nicer to do a hard trip and then celebrate afterwards in the ale tent.

I always thought that if I was ever in the enviable position of being able to design a caving hostel from scratch, it'd be a long, narrow bungalow, with the bunk rooms at one end and the common room at the opposite end!

For those who like to stop seshing when they decide, rather than the rest of the inmates deciding, a decent bivi bag is a very useful addition to the gear for the weekend.

That's why I always sleep in a van! Or when I didn't have the van, I camped. No matter how quiet the sesh is, it doesn't get you away from the snorers 😂

I've found that working in a night club has made me much more tolerant to the noise and can just kinda sleep through it. Though I do sometimes bring earplugs with me 😌

I had a free NHS over 60's Health Check on Wednesday. One of the questions was about alcohol consumption. Awkwardness ensued. Most days I don't drink anything, at the Dump it's 4 bottles of an evening, however I didn't want to mention that I'm about to order 90 pints of beer for the Winch Meet.

I can only really speak for my own club, but I've always been very happy as part of SUSS. We have an age range of active members from Uni first years to people in their 30s, all of whom get on great! I've learned loads from older members, and the club is very good at quickly teaching SRT etc to beginners. Having lots of younger members also means better and more varied socials. Also very easy to get on committee! We don't have a caving hut, but are only a short drive away from the TSG, who we are quite close to aswell.

I believe the skeleton of an old railway carriage in the field opposite the hill inn is the remains of the old suss hut. I have many happy memories of that hut!🍺🍺🍺
