Dear Colleagues,
We are starting in Brazil a Project of creating a data base of caves used for religious purposes. This idea of creating a "Worldwide database on Sacred Caves" was presented at the original thesis dissertation and was consolidated by the evaluation commission (Dr. Paolo Forti, Dr. Andrej Mihevc, Dr.Igor Jurini, Dr. Andrej Kranjc and Dr. Oswaldo Bueno Amorim Filho) after the Doctoral presentation "Cultural Importance of Karst and Caves" at the University of Nova Gorica, Karstology Program.
We would like to ask for your help in order to collect as much information as possible and create this worldwide database. As soon as we gather the information, we are going to create a webpage where all the information could be stored and accessed.
Please send me the following data: Name of the cave: Religious belief: Artificial or Natural: Inscribed at UNESCO: yes or no. If "yes", when. Coordinates: Location (Locality, Country): History: Touristic structures: Yearly number of visitors: Main anthropogenic impacts: Pictures: Bibliography: Name and credentials of the researcher responsible for the data: For the beginning of the project we think we can do this with the help of Speleogenesis members!
