Niah Caves, Sarawak

Mmm. It’s certainly a creative effort to flit between pockets of trees. Presumably the bus windows go black on the motorway to help preserve that sense of adventure?

It’s instructive to look at Semenggoh park on a satellite map. The oranguntuns aren’t going anywhere unless it’s by taxi, and they are fairly easy to spot because they potter up and down the road to pick up their lunch from Costa. Anyway, it’s actually an arboretum, more like Kew or something. So good if you like trees.

Strangely they missed mentioning the Jongs crocodile farm and zoo, a top tourist spot in Kuching. You can take a croc home in a box. It is the zoo to end all zoos (or at least you would hope so).

Perhaps of more interest; a newly completed 3D model of Niah Great Cave. About 5 kms of passage, including a substantial "new" section not on any of the Park or other cave maps. a detailed "conventional" map, based on the scan data, is in preparation.
