Ok, I'll admit this topic may perhaps not be quite as huge in scope as some others. I'll start with the Fields of the Nephilim and the Watchmen.
I reckon Carl McCoy may have out-goth'd Andrew Eldritch and Wayne Hussey back in the day...

You don?t sing or make fun in the presence of Cthulhu!

Shame Nig Rogers is no longer with us as he was very knowledgeable on Cthulhu who was an invention of the American writer H.P.Lovecraft.

Cthulhu first mentioned on UKC here: https://ukcaving.com/board/index.php?topic=24256.25

Metallica's "Call of Cthulhu" is the obvious one here, but there's also several Rudimentary Peni tracks that were Lovecraft-themed.

Not sure about "best", but approved by the The H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society: Shoggoth on the roof

The Fall's second album, Dragnet, has a couple of Lovecraft inspired tracks:

Before the moon falls

Flat of Angles

Flat of Angles - Sleeve insert says "...is about criminal elements who have no choice whether to go out or stay in. Reminds us of tea and 'The Daily Mirror'"
