Secret of the Cave (Commando)

“Secret of the Cave” 1954 Commando Comic Book.

Ridiculous jungle romp with a soldier hiding a large diamond in a cave where he expects no one to find it. Oddly enough, he hadn’t considered torture as a means to obtain the location from him. Worse still, torture seemed to be fair game in 1954 …

A rather long winded, animated story in which the “cave” isn’t actually the main feature. It did occur to me, though, that if the cave were not in the book at all, the enemy forces would never have found the hidden treasure.

I paid 89p for this masterwork which is a huge inflation on the original price … perhaps caving represents hidden investment opportunities … ?

An illustrated tome of cartooned fun.
