I am still reading my ventilation in mines book and have hit a very interesting subject Fans for working mines

For example

The sirocco fan

Diameter range 98? installed at  Wellesley fifeshire

All the way up to a big boy 154? double inlet Carlton mine Yorkshire

Then their is a waddle fan with a picture of a 15ft  400rpm and does 500,000 cubic air a minute with a 5ft water gauge in the book sorry I cannot do the photos on here ! But this range goes up to 30ft !

I was wondering if any of these monsters still exist today to view ?

Would one of the coal mining museums be able to help you there?  There's Caphouse near Wakefield (https://www.ncm.org.uk/) or Big Pit in Wales (https://museum.wales/bigpit/) or Pleasley in Derbyshire (https://www.pleasleypittrust.org.uk/) - they may know of something.

Not sure, but I think you're localish?? to Croesor and you can clearly see the diameter of the Guibal fan, looking at AN (SimonRL pic)

Some great suggestions already said Thankyou very much the diagram I have very similar in my book yes it goes through all the different designs then the models for each with the different powers etc all gets very complicated super fast

The History and Development  of Colliery Ventilation by Alan Hill ?

Mine ventilation D&JS penman 1947 second edition .

Is a cracking book I found this copy in a second hand book shop in Cromer out of all places .

I don?t no the book you speak of , this covers most aspects of mine ventilation  perhaps is similar

Alans is a more modern book copies were given away I think by PDHMS they over printed . He's around could have put you in touch if that was the book you were looking at

Over printed??? That's an understatement, I remember seeing large stacks of them in the store cupboard at the Museum at one point...

I shall have to look for this book I imagine if it?s similar it will be a good read , I really enjoying this 1 the last chapter was about mine ventilation lay out with the ventilation doors that the trams open themselves,  fire dams , first aid stations , explosion proof air crossings etc then it goes on to speak about metalliferous mine design .  Am most looking forward to the chapter on fires in mines for aiding the ventilation have seen many fire bins in iron mines before .
