    Anchors/P-Bolts - Treak Cliff Cavern

Dunno who's remit this is, but I'm thinking that the P-Bolts at the top of the climb into 1926 Passage in TCC may warrant a quick glance to see if all is ok with them. AFAIK they've been there for a fair few years, we (myself and markc of this parish) replaced the maillons about 5 or 6 years...

Following on from our Treak Cliff Discoveries (Descent 260), both diggers (yours truly and markc of this parish), have moved house from the rolling hills of Derbyshire. Markc is now resident in South Wales, fairly close to Langattock. I myself have moved abroad to Normandy in France, set up a...

Recommendations for caving weekend - Becon Beacons/East thereof

After many years caving in Derbyshire, my mate has moved down to Caerleon area. Now, he doesn't drive, so muggins here is visiting him for a weekend in Sept. Now, I've done OFD II with my last club, and we're both mud hardened cavers so I'm after a little advice, we wish to 'do' a decent system...

I've been asked to post this by the current owner, in case someone is interested: After a family bereavement, Rose Cottage, Castleton, Derbyshire, is for sale. Russet Well is in the garden of the cottage. I have no idea of the cost, rooms, land, etc, as currently it is promoted as a private...

Shafts/workings near Layby Shelter/Hanging Flat, Stoney Middleton

On my way home earlier this afternoon from caving, I decided to stop at Layby Shelter and have a shufty. Anyway, walking back to the car, I decided to follow the clear path rising up the hillside eastwards. There was Hanging Flat Mine, (been there, seen that), and question Number 1 - Hanging...

    Petzl Pantin Left for sale

I have got a Petzl Pantin Left for sale, I've used it a couple of times but never really got on with it. It's second hand, still has sharp teeth, a tad dusty, a little of the paint has worn off from rope rub. Serial number still visible - 11132FR6672. When I got it it didn't have the clip that...

Limestone and Caves around Pays d'Ouche, Normandy

I holiday a few times a year in Normandy - and am looking to move there within the next 4 years. Does anyone have any info on the Limestone area of Pays d'Ouche in Normandy?  According to wikipedia 'The Pays d'Ouche is an historical and geographical region in Normandy. It extends from the...

For Sale - A well used, battered, knackered Meander Oversuit Size 4B

Not sure whether this'll work but here goes: I've just replaced my 7 year old Meander with a Warmbac digger. Ity's a bog standard yellow Meander size 4B - I'm 6' and 13 stone and it was a tad baggy on me. However, both cuffs are knackered, but they still velcro up ok, its just the pvc around...

Wanted - Non perforated flexible plastic pipe/hose

Hi folks, Wanted for ongoing digging project - at least 5m - maybe 10m of 100mm plastic flexible pipe/hose. We have a small but annoying streamlet/supply of water that comes in at one end of our dig through an installed 4" pipe and currently flows right through where we sit/grovel/crouch and...

Seeking out new Limestone features (part 1)

Over the last 18 months or so, I have done a fair amount of walking in the Peak Limestone catchment. I had my trusty COPD with me, but fairly often I happened across features not recorded in COPD. Now, fair enough, some of them are probably not worth a second glance, but they do make up a rich...

    Delph Lower Sink

Had a wander with my pooch around SMD and Eyam in the pouring rain yesterday. As I came down the Delph, the stream was sinking at Lower Delph Swallet. I've actually never seen it do that before as some water always seems to flow beyond the sink or the stream is bone dry. Before anyone squawks...

Curious upsurge in Cave Club members

Just wondering if any other club has noticed an upsurge in new members?  My club has experienced quite a dramatic increase of both novices and experienced members joining in the last year and I was wondering if this is being repeated elsewhere?
