Had a wander with my pooch around SMD and Eyam in the pouring rain yesterday. As I came down the Delph, the stream was sinking at Lower Delph Swallet. I've actually never seen it do that before as some water always seems to flow beyond the sink or the stream is bone dry.
Before anyone squawks at me, I know its a SSSI, so I didn't fiddle with it. The main sink was open about 18"wide by 8" high, water also seemed to filter through the banks just upstream about half meter away. Putting my hand in the sink, there seemed to be a couple of loose rocks and a lot of silt.
I know JSB dug here in the 1970's, what did he find?
