This one from Peter Glanvill showing WL Cave the same month that it was discovered in August 1967. The entrance then was pretty much a walk in and had been closed up and gated by the time I got in there the following month.

Left to right -
Colin Corbett, Micheal Stower and a very youthful Peter Glanvill.

Peter picked up more slides from Pete Rose today at the dig which he will scan for the MCRA Flickr site. I will add any early FCQ ones here.

Excellent stuff!

But I must say that some of these old photos do highlight the amount of deterioration that has resulted from years of heavy caving.

(And no, I'm not referring to the caves!  ;) )

Indeed Roger. Here is Peter Glanvill digging ( or cementing ) in Vurley today  50 years later to the year.
I am 70 this year. Can barely crawl about now. ::)

Funnily enough, in the time since Mr OR posted these photos, that stal's gone on to form a column! amazing really.

What road sign in Lamb Leer ?

Seriously off topic but by gum it's my thread. :ang:
That one's far too new.
There's an old 30 limit sign with 'fruit gum' style reflectors next to the winch platform.
Looked newish first time I was in there in the late 60s/early seventies.
It's gathered stal very fast, over the years it's become less and less visible.
I was last in there about 13-14 years ago, still just visible then.

Behave you two - you'll have me thinking the whole place was just a barren chamber that you 'photo-shopped' all the features in

Maybe the whole place is just a confection of photoshopped bits of other caves, and doesn't really exist at all....?
