Reservoir Hole stuff, and boy there's a lot of it

Totty Pot could be associated with the Skyfall fault or the Bone Hole / Spider Hole fault. I find it interesting that the description calls it an ancient stream cave. Has anyone details of circumstances at the site now ?

I seem to remember many years ago of somebody saying they saw vapour emerging from here on an exceedingly cold day.

Also Vurley Swallet which took a stream in wet weather and filled in a while ago.

The Vurley Swallet dig looked interesting but the thread has now disappeared..... Shame....

Photo trip to the Frozen Deep.
I wanted to take some images that show the scale of the chamber; there are at least two people in all these images.
Seen at this size doesn't really do these images justice :)

The bottom chamber with Estelle and Sarah
It has a very different character to the top chamber.
We deliberately threw a lot of light into the top chamber so the columns would be silhouetted

Vurley almost lines up with the Bone / Spider Hole rift, although I have no idea how far the rift actually extends. I'm sure we'll hear more about Vurley...

This map shows the dip of the beds:

& this doesn't show the actual routes taken by streams, but gives an indication of how they might relate to each other:

Thanks guys for the photos and maps. The Reservoir diggers are indeed taking a surface vacation and may return to Reservoir in the winter. A little bit of work has been done in the down stream sump and it seems a further trip has been planned. If the syncline or the overthrust does guide the master cave life could be interesting . I had not realised that we were at 97,000 views. It would be great to make the 100,000. I had pretty much decided to finish up with this thread in favour of some smaller ones centered around more recent digging. Well I suppose you should never say never so we shall see.

Some things have to be wound up decently and that what has happened here. The Tuesday diggers wanted a change of scene after abandoning the Topless Aven dig. A nice Summer surface dig seemed the answer so that's what we are doing. In fact last week a lot of the Reservoir digging stuff was removed. MSD is still a going concern as its well above the water table though for the moment we are focused elsewhere. There is nothing exciting to report and folks will be brought up to date at Hidden Earth by which time ---- who knows. Like most Mendip digs we view the current project as long term. Slow progress and certainly not worth regular updates. When the full team agrees I will catch up with a few photos. Possibly soon after Hidden Earth.
This thread was a long labour of love which caused me a fair bit of grief along the way. Also along the way came two nasty injuries which put me out of caving for nearly a year in total. in fact the last time I was in Reservoir was when my arm got bashed up almost a year ago. Possibly with the length of the thread and the number of views we have established a world record but in all honesty you cant go on forever.
