... why not just purchase the land (I'm sure the present owners would be pleased with ~£15,000) and then you can allow cavers to visit as much as you like!...

Probably worth every penny.

Interesting that the caves are available for purchase as separate lots.

No price quoted but there might be opportunities for negotiation here. I've always wanted to own a cave but I wouldn't let any smelly caverns down it!

Damn blasted spellcheckers and iPads! Meant to post - "I wouldn't let any smelly CAVERS down it!" (all non-smelly cavers would be welcome of course....)

The new owner is a caver and negotiations with representatives from CSCC and involved clubs should lead to a access system that will be acceptable to all. Just please be patient. I have been waiting patiently since 1968 for another trip into these caves :)

Nine Barrows was the second cave I went into in the late sixties, remember having to take boots of to walk across the crystal floor

CSCC is currently in negotiations with the landowner to set up an access agreement.
Part of this will be the need to carry out certain works to provide an access route to the caves.
Until this work is complete the caves remain closed.
Please stay away for now and as Peter said above, be patient.
The caves have been closed for the last 27 years, another few weeks wait won't hurt.
