Watson H.MONROE (1907-1992)
One of the pioneer of the collaboration between the European speleologists and the American cavers into the International Union of Speleology in the past is died. Watson H.Monroe was the geologist of Puerto Rico from 1955 to 1964 and studied in this time the tropical karst of this island. The most important work is certainly the Glossary of Karst Terminology, published after many contacts and discussions with European colleagues by the U.S.Geological Survey. It is the "standers reference" to the subject in English.
