More Big Stuff in waterways

Hi all,

Not been around much for a while, but recently our Waterways Swallet project has been restarted...

Last week another large chanber was discovered after a tough bit of "adjustment"

Here is me sitting in the breakthrough point... Ian Bishop Pete Dell and myself were the breakthrough artistes on this occaision.

A decent of 8 m reached the bottom of a rift that breaks out into a large chanber - Room101..  it's big!  ::)

The far end of the chamber has this choke...

The floor has holes everyhere, and nice "mud" floor, this has been taped off as the holes can be reached via a boulder rift in the floor.

Further adjustments led to a route up into horrible choke explored by Richard Lockyer, and also a route down against a wall. This was followed to exit in the choke at the end of Blore Street, making a round trip (though not "recommended" apparently....)

Further work is continuing elsewhere in the cave, still looking for the elusive streamway...

The chamber photos were on the second visit yesterday...  :) The round trip was first acheived on that trip.

It does look very groovy - much better than the infernal boulder choke of doom - I have never tried to levitate for such a long time!!!

It's not even half way down! Breathrough point is a few meters before the first ladder. The survey has just been doen for the new guide - it's out of date now!! LOL

Great! A guide that's out of date even before it's printed. That's the way it should be.  :bow:

so far - the 200 meters of rope is yours by the look.

we are hoping to make the bagshawe survey out of date this year too. it will happen, it will happen, it will happen it.......... o_O

Do you have an estimate length? And no, we weren't allowed to do lots of little survey circles around our chambers, so neither are you!  :spank:

Not sure yet of length. It has a start point and end point in known passage, so thats probably 40-50m, but then there is a pit in the floor which we can see down at least 10m and is full of rocks, plus a voice connection to another known small inlet that is probably passable and will be another 10m, and a route up into the choke in the roof that is maybe another 15m.

It'll be surveyed at some point when the leads are all properly done.

We need to find the draught as well, whichis very strong at the breakthrough point

Some proper phtography down there would be great, can provide 500w of lighting powered from the surface.  ;)

Great pics - I learned a lot watching Jon, twas a good trip. We even made it for a pint at the end  ;)
