At age of 65, Dr. Heinz Charles Kohler died from a heart attack on April 24th. Considered to be responsible for consolidating modern karstology in Brazil, he was also a renown Brazilian geomorphologist, specially due to his important contributions in the field of karstgeomorphology and Quaternary studies.  As a researcher and professor at UFMG University and PUC Minas University, he cooperated with many scientists such as Ford, Nicod, Journaux, Kranjc, Auler, Oldham, and Pil?, among others. He also helped many graduate students to obtain their current degrees.  For his friendship and enormous contribution to science we remember him at this moment.

Respectfully, Dr. Luiz Travassos
