    An informative discussion

Recently there was long thread about the BCA. I can now post possible answers to some of the questions, such as "Why is the BCA still raising membership prices when there is a significant amount still left in its coffers?"

Afraid not. The only drills I've used are the Bosch GBH 24v ones which seem very popular in the caving world.

The thing about a drill for caving is it has to be tough as old boots and put up with some right hammer. I suspect the cheaper your drill, the more suseptable it will be to damage from knocks, grit, water etc.

also beware false economy, better to have an expensive drill that lasts and lasts than a cheaper one that falls to bits on your 4th trip.

Never heard of 'em before. May well be OK, may fall to bits....

The Hitachi on the same page (a little more expensive) is used in Matienzo. I haven't very wide experience of drills, but that one puts in lots of bolts in not a lot of time. Certainly got 16 9mm Hilti spits in with one battery - dunno why we carried the spare all the way down the cave
