    An informative discussion

Recently there was long thread about the BCA. I can now post possible answers to some of the questions, such as "Why is the BCA still raising membership prices when there is a significant amount still left in its coffers?"

From what I've read recently about cave access, committees, politbureaus, digs, etc. I think there are two scenarios that sums the general situation up:

Are there more caving " politicians " now than actual cavers ? I dont like anarchy but like most other things we see today there is too much of a rush to control.

I don't think so; despite what you might read on forums, most of us just try to get on with caving quietly meanwhile.

I think this is just a time when there is a large change in direction for caving. Once it's sorted out, things will settle down and we can just go caving, but with better access.

For younger readers who might not understand what this thread is about, 'pirate' was a term used for people caving without a permit.

On Mendip " Pirate " was somebody who took over another's dig without permission. There is a "Pirate Chamber" in Shatter Series, Swildons.

In Wales, that's what I would call a pirate too.
