That's the one, though the boat is often completely submerged in winter. Trips in through the showcave aren't really allowed if it's just for fun, and the main route in is via Peak Cavern, which is more of an ordeal but is proper caving. Wetness and muddyness is guaranteed, but wetness at least is possible at the end, which means removing the muddyness! Speedwell in winter can be scary, and definitely requires a well-insulated

approach - wetsuit or a very thick furry undersuit.

Can only agree with that brilliant site up at Castleton
I dont know where I am going, but will know where I am when I get there.

Not sure I knew what to expect, I'd heard cavers were a very strange bunch  ;). However this site has shown them to be extremely friendly and supportive. Thanks!

I just found out that Chris Jones gave a presentation on 1st April about iron mines in Furness.

Does anyone know if it was recorded and available on You Tube?  Thanks.

That's very kind, Roy - thank you.  We have an excellent moderation team too

I feel it's also very much down to forum members. To everyone who posts (especially you), likes, joins in competitions, tells their mates about UKC in a positive manner, links us to their websites, shares posts on other social media etc etc, you are all a part of this forum, indeed you ARE this forum.  These days I feel and certainly hope cavers want UKC to be a friendlier place, there's enough crap going on in the world, we don't need it here too.
