Hi Matt, I am the team leader for Derbyshire Scout Caving Team, I'm happy to give you some advice/point you in the right direction. Drop me a private message. Cheers, Alex
Does anybody know of any artificial caves available to hire? Reasonably large ones...
Excluding BCA and DCA ones.
I have tried cave bus and odin but they are both booked when I want them.
It's for a big scouting event.
Thanks!
No idea if these would be any good. They are BDH branded though. Expensive too!

Peak Instructed Caving Affiliation (PICA) subs are now due for 2017. Please check your emails, if you were a member in 2016 you should have had a renewal through.
Subs are the same level as 2016: Voluntary Groups- ?20/Freelancer- ?25/Small Organisation- ?35/Outdoor Centres and Organisations-...
I was in Bagshawe cavern the other day and noticed the chain on the climb down to the full moon series is looking rather worn on some of the links. I wouldn't want to rely on this if I slipped!
Do others generally climb while using the chain as an aid or would you put a handline down if needed?
You've been saying how good you are at slacklining; now get up there and do a flip
I told you to put it 2 feet off the floor not 2 meters you fool
I've got a dodgy leg; you're going to have to go up there not me
I've only just seen this, but in case anyone cared here in Derbyshire Scout Caving Team we have taken over 1100 Scouts caving in 2016 so far. This includes about half taken by Phil's part of the team. Across about 70 trips underground. We do have over 30 instructors on the books though...
As said before Mouldridge isn't the most sensitive of places. Surely a perfect location to open up underground adventure to many young minds who may one day be budding cavers like yourself?
You'll be left hanging and having to shuffle onto the little ledge with a 10m ladder. Manageable, but if you want to be comfortable and step off right at the bottom I'd say it's about 12m
I had a play with the door and cleared some of the crap which was stopping it from closing, the only thing stopping it from shutting is the bolt which the baffoon that put the ladder in didn't countersink the head of. Then it will shut with a bit of wobbling like it always has. If you were to...
PM sent, when you know a time when anybody will be there let me know and I can email around all the derbyshire scout instructors as we use the location often
Cheers
Alex
