    Strange formation; any ideas?

An item on the BEEB today has some related material. For anyone who has low enough temperatures and young children the bit about bubbles may be of particular interest. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-68012886

White mold? bacteria? fungus? in compasses

Simple experiment: Take one home for a few days, keep in a warm dry place such as your living room for 48 hours, then 48 hours in a cooler damper place such as your car boot or garden shed and note any changes.

BBC Archive film 1979 Pegasus Caving Club

Pass, if you've watched it, you know as much as I do about it. As usual it was not what I was looking for, just another of those distractions that slow you down when looking for something specific.

BBC Archive film 1979 Pegasus Caving Club

The new BBC archive of film clips probably contains several items of interest to those interested in mines/caves or in this case a well (a water mine?). Hopefully I'll get the link right. 1979 Archive film That seems to work, have fun seeing what else is there to be dug out.

    Gwynedd Slate Landscape

Heritage is Heritage, some of it good some of it bad, but it all shapes who we are now.  Trying to change history/heritage by hiding bits of it away is a bad idea, you cannot learn from things that are  hidden away (and with the passage of time then forgotten).

    Gwynedd Slate Landscape

Just been having a quiet mental chuckle about the possibilies of confusion now there are two overlapping World Heritage Sites.  Suppose Edwards Castles WHS was having a bit of a do and the Norman Knight re-enactors turned up at say the Prince of Wales Quarry. Unlikely maybe, or maybe not I was...

Who's the Helmet without the helmet???

I would agree but there is a world of difference between inexperience and plain stupidity.

Who's the Helmet without the helmet???

It has always struck me as fortunate that Darwin did not do his research on humans, if he had we would probably never have heard of him. Some years ago, going up Snowdon with friends via the Cib 'path' we came across a very distressed middle aged lady in street clothing.  She was sat straddling...

    Dog Friendly Mines

This thread is reminding of a sight I saw a couple of years ago.  Whilst driving home from the supermarket on a main road in a built-up area I spotted a man walking a dog that was fitted with two front white side lights and two rear red tail lights.  Thanks to a water company hole in the road I...

Sad: Rightmove shows increasing number of B&Bs, Bunkhouses etc up for sale

Newish modern cars are a smart mobile phone with extra periferals.  Ordinary smart mobile phones cost more (in ? notes) than a typical deposit when I purchased a house. As for rust and oil changes etc such skills are no longer required or useable.  I have them but recently had to take my 20...
