... no, I couldn't believe it either.  But someone has indeed been poetically inspired - by Goatchurch.

My favourite bit was after a respectful moment of silence followed an underground poetry reading, the presenter said "right, shall we go to the pub, then?"

" There was a young man called Dave.
Who found a dead pro in a cave ----
--------
--------

But think of the money he saved."

Oooo er missus.

There was a young man called Dave,
Who found a dead pro in a cave,
He thought I'll have that,
So took it with hat,
But left the old caver to his grave.

Apparently Radio 3 got in an earlier plug for Sean Borodale's book in 'What Lies Beneath; Neanderthal Cave Art to Fatbergs' -

And the cover picture for 'Asylum' -

- and here's me trying to raise the tone of the forum with a bit of culture.  Tch!

There was an old caver called Dave
Took his Roy Fellows lamp to the grave,
Where the Devil cried, "No!
Up to Heaven you go!
That light is too bright for my cave!"
