I hope the coffee will be better than next door ......three of us voted it the worse cup of coffee we had ever tasted. And we all have a long life experience of coffee so that's saying something. Never again! Looking forward to testing Bernie s coffee sometime soon.

The biggest barrier for women is the state of the hut toilets. I'm a member of four caving clubs, only one of them has toilets reasonably clean ( because they pay for professional cleaners). Why do old guys think it is ok to piss all over the seat then just walk away?

We had a twin-tub washing machine but did a lot by hand in the big sink, using a piece of drift wood as a posser. I used to like lending a hand on wash days. The smell was great and something you just don't get with modern front loading washing machines. Washing day was dictated by the weather...

I do this using two small stainless maillons. They are very easy to clip/unclip, unlike a fabric loop.

That helmet split might have been very helpful in taking some force off the neck and skull. Impossible to tell, but I can see the logic of not being too bothered if your helmet does that having been seriously impacted by a falling rock or whatever. Any tests with a new helmet c.f. an old one...

I take it you are aware that the new Petzl harness self destruct mid pitch? Ok, slight exaggeration, but the leg loop definately come (very) loose. I've had to sew mine down. Point being I wouldn't worry about any 'guarantee ' from a company who makes harnesses not fit for purpose and doesn't...
