Glasfurb's : did I get to the end?

Trying to piece together Gavel Pot descriptions and surveys......... I did about 5 or 6' Glasfurb's' chambers, linked by tight crawls, which ended in a deep pool / duck. At the end of the duck/pool there was a very serious looking 'snorkel' passage on the L. Was I at the end, or does the...

Caving in NSW, Aus. What's the score/scene?

Can anyone shed light on caving in NSW in terms of access , srt , general scene etc? I'm used to the freedom of the Yorkshire Dales :) and got the impression from my last visit down under that access might be an issue outside official club trips . Not that there is anything wrong with that as...

How to repair this wetsuit leg?

Any thoughts on this? I'm thinking it is beyond repair, other than cutting it off above the knee and fitting a new leg? Who might undertake such work?

    Aardvark Country issues

We were in the 17m dug shaft at the start of Aardvark Country last week and some of the boards holding back the spoil had broken, spilling spoil and rocks down the shaft. We have removed the rotten/broken plywood, but the remaining ply is in poor condition. The climb is quite serious: the...

    Craftsman's Pot is open again

Thanks to Dave R's input, the boulder I inadvertently move a couple of Christmases ago has now been cleared and the cave is open again. The wooden lid has rotted away and I have used a wheel barrow to cover the hole. I will sort out a replacement lid, but certainly not before June at the...

    New Avanti leg loops slipping

After what wasn't very much SRT yesterday I noticed that the leg loops on my new (orange) Avanti  harness had slipped.. Yes they were correctly threaded. The tail ends are normally 4" , they'd slipped to only 2". And my hips are very sore today.... Has anyone else had the same?

Aardvark Country: where is the crux?

Having failed twice to get beyond the first pitch in Aardvark Country I'm wondering where the hardest part of the route is? If there is anything tighter than the approach to the first pitch there is little point in me pushing a third visit...... Also, has anyone achieved the book time of 10-15...

    Mayday Hole: ?lost krab?

We think an Ascent Lite krab may still be on a hanger somewhere in Mayday Hole.......it would be nice to be reunited should any teams be passing in the near future. Also, the last drilled thread is not going to last very long.  The rock is shattered and fractured.  Lots of rope rub and , albeit...

New s/s 10mm spit sleeves in Diccan Pot?

Had a zip down Diccan a few days ago, first time down after the new CNCC rigging was put in. I noticed a few what looked like Raumer s/s spit sleeves but much bigger than the standard 8mm.  More like at least 10mm. Obviously nothing to do with the resin anchor scheme, but the spit sleeves were...

Fire pit at Sell Gill Holes

There is a fire pit in the eye hole shake hole at Sell Gill wet route. I have removed the part burnt pallet but didn't have a bag to clear the BBQ fuel and bottle tops etc. If anyone is heading that way this weekend perhaps they could take a strong carrier bag up and bring down the rest? The...

four kind of 'free' Ecrin helmets [buy the attached lights!]

With some sadness and regret I have decided that my neck will no longer tolerate the weight of my Ecrins.  Like many cavers I consider these to be the best of all helmets for underground, but I just have to lighten the load: both helmet and lights.   Please contact me direct on...

Free Digging parafanalia , please uplift

Hi folks, if you are looking for 'stuff' for your dig, there are buckets, drag trays, ropes, digging implements free to up lift. They are situated at the bottom of Starting Handle Hole on Leck Fell. The cave is fully rigged and the walk-in is about 3m so an easy trip to be had :) Let me know...

Starting Handle Hole: shit tip or active dig?

Can anyone tell me if the dig in Starting Handle Hole is active or is the pile crap down there abandoned digging paraphernalia?? The lid is held semi captive by a padlocked chain and although passable it is awkward.  Who has the key?  A few links more slack on the chain would be helpful. If...
