I guess we live in a time with a population density such that although regularly getting outdoors into your local countryside is generally agreed to be good for the individual it would also be a disaster for the countryside if every individual did it...

I'd say something is a bit amiss there if the amount raised per person was only £30. The cost of the average 'experience' type parachute jump looks to be around £250-£300. I would have thought the aim with any of these sort of things should be to raise at least more than the participation cost...

So better to make sure if you are doing something dangerous that you do it on one of the middle ones (y)

I think it's entirely natural (and probably even the desired effect?) that when a statement on responsibilities like this is put out by a governing body it causes folk to pause and think about how/if they are fulfilling their responsibilities - and following on from that natural to ask...

Within recreational caving clubs have a responsibility to check that leaders of novices on their trips are suitably competent So, if a club has an open diary where anyone can post up trips, organise a weekend etc. for other members to join in. Does the club have to get formally involved to...

I have signed, although I am not local. We have lost our own local authority outdoor centre in recent years which was a great asset, both our girls used it during school holidays and you could even just rock up there and hire kayaks and canoes etc. A mates holiday job there when we were young...

Absolutely agree, I am very much a sunday afternoon caver (well more of a mine explorer), in mountaineering terms if most folk here are serious alpinists, I'm strolling up Catbells. As such I'm greatly in favour of the solo trip, I'm not spoiling anyone elses day if I decide I don't fancy...

I make Youtube videos too! My channel is not specifically about Mine Exploration but it does feature from time to time. Unfortunately I think YT done badly does contribute towards loss of access, deterioration in relationships with landowners or at the very least a loss of unrestricted open...
