access for ludwell

Drive or walk down the lane to the farmhouse, last house on the left, first door you come to, they are very friendly, they may try and give you a key, just take it but the triangular lid just lifts out of its hole, a very short drop into cave.
The cave entrance is over a footbridge through gate and immeadiately up on your right about 7metres from cart track.

The two entrances lie on land of different ownership. For the dry entrance call on Mr Coates at Ludwell Farm, Banwell Road, Hutton, Somerset. For the resurgence write to Mr. Dale, Spring Cottage, Ludwell, Banwell Road, Hutton, Somerset allowing 4 weeks notice and enclosing an SAE. Solo diving will not be permitted.

I believe the current access to the resurgence was negotiated by a member of the northern section of the CDG with the then owner of the house. I visited the resurgence in 1994 with said CDG member and were the first to approach the owner about diving in the two years that he had lived there. We made limited access agreement's with the owner on this visit. Said CDG member then made another visit some 18 months later which was when the current agreement, including the section about solo diving, was sorted out.

I dived Ludwell in Sept. 2006 - rang the owners of Spring Cottage and sorted out access. No problem with solo diving then. They were going to be out when I planned to go and were pretty happy about the trip.
