Access to Ogof Llyn Parc and Park Western Shaft

After being intrigued by the brief description in Selected Caves  i'm curious to find out what the current access situation is to the system...
Does anyone have any info or can anyone point me in the direction of someone to speak to?

You need to get in touch with North Wales Caving Club.

IIRC access is strictly controlled/restricted, but there is an occaisional winch meet on the Parc shaft (400ft). The rules are placed by the landowner/mineral rights owners.

Its a mega, mega trip and well worth the trouble to arrange if possible. One of the my very top rated trips in the country.

Really is a super trip, highlights for me being the streamway, the Quarry & the fantastic phreatic tube at the end. Pitches are 300' entrance & 2 x 70'ers that used to have fixed ladders on 'em. Used to have the additional frisson of a load of WW2 blinds on an inset about 30' below shaft collar leaking a horrid yellow mess (TNT TNP?), now thankfully gone!
Last time I was up there (Autumn 06) some asshole had taken off the lid & left an open 300' shaft 75yds from a road!
Did of course report it & NWCC fixed it next day.

The streamway is brilliant. Not sure which bit is the "Quarrry" though thought that was in Olwen Goch Shaft, though maybe the name is also used in Lyn Parc.

A combination of Lyn Parc and Olwyn Goch is as good a weekend as you could want for in the UK.

The Quarry's the big chamber not far upstream of the breakthrough point with all the old signatures. IIRC it's sort of ampi-theatre shaped if that makes sense. (if it does it'll be a first for me according t' th' missus :) )

When we did it this lat May bankholiday we combined the two above trips with a Friday Croesor/Rosydd trip and a winch meet down Pepes shaft in Dolphin as well. Probably the best (Long) weekend I have ever had. Video on You Tube(y) (y) (y)
