Aquamole Dive Equipment

Had a trip down Aquamole today.
After the shock  of seeing a ?body? floating in the sump, we regained our composure and realised it was a drysuit floating.

We managed to fish it out. The suit had a good amount of water in it.
The innertube rings were still on the neck seal and cuffs and the zip was closed.

We took the rubber bands off and managed to hang it up high by the boots (thick rope used), hopefully it will drain and dry a bit. The rubbers bands we have attached to the traverse line.
(There was a bit of fresh broken rock above the righthand end of the traverse line, maybe the suit was hung here ?)

The other kit looked OK, although quite a bit of silt covered the harmess and weight belt, there was also a bit of silt in one of the tank valves.

If anyone needs any further information please feel free to PM me.

(Could someone pass onto the Diver if they are not on here please)

Thanks
Ian

Biblical quantity of rain last wednesday/thursday.  About as much as I have seen.  Certainly our road (near the bottom of Kingsdale) was flowing like a river - as wet as it's ever been.  I imagine all the usual underground places would have been flooded high.

It would be interesting to know if the Lancaster Hole main streamway had backed up to the high level route again, or other places.

I think it was dislodged some point in last week's epic Dales Downfall - last weekend the suit was hung up as per usual however this weekend just gone a group went down on Saturday during CHECC and mentioned that they'd seen it floating (expressing the same initial shock at it potentially being a body!).

A couple of friends were down Lancs on Friday (24th). They say: "underground at 1pm; streamway was average levels, very easy to follow. Sump was backed up a bit. Foam around 8m above our heads in many places from sump to Fall Pot."

I rang Rupert when I saw this - he hadn't seen Benfool's message (but thanks for trying Ben) and wasn't aware.

Rupe is especially grateful to Ian P; you did exactly the right thing Ian and he asked me particularly to pass on his thanks to you.

Happy to help in anyway I can. If you nutters highly motivated and skilled divers are prepared to do what you, then its the least us mortals can do !!

Last Wed a friend and I popped into Yordas to see what water levels were like. Chapterhouse was amazing, filling the entire back chamber. I managed to get onto the window ledge by hauling myself up with both hands but had to jump back down quite quickly as the amount of water was hindering my ability to breathe.

Regarding last week's flooding - i saw plenty evidence of flooding in simpson pot and valley entrance when i was there last weekend.

There was foam on the roof all along East Entrance Passage (from near Swinsto Final Chamber), through the Master Junction, along the Main Drain (with grass on stals) and along the Roof Tunnel quite a way (until it rises at a breakdown pile).
