For what ?

Home Close Hole ( The Soggy Bottom Crew ) at close to 305 m if memory serves me right.

Now how they decide to publicise their work is entirely up to them.

Not this year but of course it won hands down the second year and there is still plenty of potential up there.

Thanks for that 'doc, I can envisage that roguish grin thinking 'at least I've got folks finding cave'--.

It was written up for Decent and I think there is a survey in The Wessex magazine. Sadly it now seems that the trip is too long for most of the aged team. 80ft abseil does not help.

Do you happen to know which copy it was in? I'd be interested in reading about it. Also is it still an active dig and or open to cavers or not? Thanks :)  :) :)

Lost touch a bit with Home Close. You can get trips through the team.  At least Mr O'Doc did. They have attempted the sumps in the main streamway via Home Close but again nothing recent noted. I dont think think that the MCRA bibliography is up to date enough for recent references. I expect somebody knows a lot more than I. ( hint ).

Sounds interesting - is there a reason why their online reports stopped for Home Close (stopped in December 2014)? I enjoyed reading them and they kept me grounded in the digging world of mendip at the time.  I'd like to organise a trip in July if I am allowed? Who should I ask?

Thanks,

I suggest contacting Duncan Price for a possible trip. He posts on this forum.

There's a trip this Sunday - 10 pm.  The Old Lags are digging above the 25 m pitch but not using anything that would interfere with trips further into the cave.  There is a diving team going in to do some climbing beyond S10 and I hope to do some surveying near to Sandy Tunnel and perhaps open up a potential link to bypass part of Squality Street.

The pitches are rigged and we hope to put a bomb proof ladder on the up climb into The Generation Game from Young Bloods' in the future.  The ladders have been in since 2017 and are of concern.
