Bat tests positive for rabies

Not really "news" since the 2002 McRae case etc.. Noteworthy that all the cases since 1977 were in Daubentons, rather than the more common (!) cave-dwelling Horseshoes!

It does say that this bat was caught acting suspiciously in Bushy Park, last August,
what have "they" been doing with it since  :-\

W/L, are you a paranoid conspiracy theorist, perchance?

Wikipedia doesn't seem to have an entry for "They", perhaps They have had it removed.  :-\ :-\

and the bat claimed he was just out walking his dog...

Anyway I know a guy who was bitten by a rabid bat and didn't die.

Well if "they" knew that "they" were doing that, why didn't "they" get "they" to stop "them"?

I leave all the dead bats I find exactly where they are.

Seems odd that people might want to pick them up at all; let alone post them off. Weird.

It does, but you have to include the last bracket in the url that Chris gave.

Like so:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/They_(pronoun)

Perhaps "They" removed the bracket.
My god, I am turning into a paranoid conspiracy theorist.  :o

I suspect "they" were keeping the animal alive to watch how the disease progressed

Clearly not too seriously if "they" were able to keep it alive!

Don't the bat protection laws not also prohibit handling dead bats too?

Being in possession of one, dead or alive, (without a permit!), is an offence, yes.
It would seem from The Defra Website that "they" are interested in two species
Daubenton's & Serotine
