Today in Burrington Combe Capt Chris and I worked together to help a young lad down from the rock face, he had just gone a bit too far and got stuck.
No big drama, two cavers a rope and a harness - sorted

The 4 HART paramedic teams, ambulance, 9 fire appliances from three stations and two police vehicles weren't really needed!

Maybe cavers should do all the cliff rescues?

No, no, they really were needed. Do you not know that they are paid for by us, the tax payers, to turn up to things like this as spectators, just in case there aren't any other spectators around to notice what heroes we are...

Good work you two. How often do we do this sort of stuff in the dark, unseen and just part of a normal caving trip with someone who just needs a bit of help to complete the trip safely?

Ahhh but who rescues the rescuers.
Chris just rang home to say he was stuck on Priddy green, car wouldnt start...
Guess who got it working for him..  ;)

A woman: Without her, man is nothing.

Good effort though, do you realise how gutted the Hart team will have been, they sit around on their arses, training and training all day, waiting for that 1 major incident to occur, the one where they can be heroes, all that extra training comes into play, only to be pipped to the post by 2 regular blokes, 1 bit of rope and a harness.  (y)

Not to forget that these other, statutory bodies, all probably have very highly skilled, sorry I meant paid, P.R. specialists who's existence must be justified somehow.

A woman: Without her, man is
Chilled out, not fretting about yet more bloody shoes that he'll be paying for, or trying to avoid seeing yet another treacle laden chick flick instead of the grand prix, and still has mates that can watch it with him, coz the woman hasn't decided that because SHE doesn't like them, niether does HE.... :spank:

Over to You Carm. :tease:

A pleasure to meet you! - nice work, you hero!

You should get a medal, a large cheque and eternal glory. I doubt you will get any of them, though. 'Speck everyone else who turned up gets paid, though.

Indeed, (with the exception of ASSART, who are all volunteers) and I got a ride with Duncan with blue lights flashing.  ;)

I reckon the brief press report is journalistic misinterpretation of the Fire service incident report. Is there a direct link to the Fire service incident list to see if this is the case?

No fire service report posted as yet, but interestingly the Weston Mercury report has been edited

This story
"A 12-YEAR-OLD boy had to be rescued from a cliff face by fire crews yesterday.

Fire fighters from Blagdon and Bristol were called to the boy in Burrington Combe at 1.50pm

A spokesman for the Avon Fire and Rescue said: ?Fire-fighters in both teams worked together and rescued him from the rock face successfully.?
