Is that the 100ft or more drop you traverse after the second pitch in Priddy ent? If so then yes it is (thankfully).

No it's the 40ft deep hole you cross to get to the Black Hole series.
That's the traverse or bold step I'm asking about crossing. There was a rope there at the end of 09 just about 10ft down

There was no fixed rope in place when I was last there - May 2010.  Even if there was a fixed rope, I would still take my own.  Also note that the belays for the descent need a bit of thought to be safe.  There is an old rawl ring-bolt and a few 8mm spits - some of them with stripped threads or sticking out a fair way from the rock.  On the far side there is an old rawl bolt with and angle iron hanger and a couple of big boulders in stal to fix the rope to.

Hope this is useful.

Didn't see any last Sunday. A rope was on the 10ft overhang. There's usually rope on the far side of the Black Hole traverse but you can't see it until you are nearly across. Thought the air not too fresh after leaving the streamway, puffing a bit.

No fixed rope as I can recall, just what Ed said plus about a yard of tatty polyprop on the "far side".

A useful wheeze is to take a short (5m) ladder so you can easily get to a lower, just-as-bold step on the near side. I'd definatley use a lifeline.

Pretty sure I read somewhere that it's scheduled for bolting.
