Box Freestone Quarry

Does anyone know what the initials SMCR stand for on a the walls of Box Freestone Quarry? They appear next to what look like survey marks.

Could it be SMCC? Shepton Mallett Caving Club did the surveys that are sold at the Quarrymans.

Hmmm, i'm fairly sure the SMCC who did all the Box Quarry survey work WOULDN'T have been scribbling on the walls:  :spank: they used small, temporary cairns as survey markers, and wouldn't have wanted to add to the vast amount of graffiti and confusing direction markers already on the walls in there. I'll ask them if they know who SMCR are...

If you do a seach for SMCR plc it brings a company up ,but does not say what the business of this firm is.
The firm is based near Oxford,it does not have a website either!
