Go into the Quarryman's pub, (walking distance from Jack's entrance or Backdoor)
You can buy the surveys there - ask nicely they'll let you park in the pub car-park.
About 1 mile or SW there is a pub called the Swan at kingsdown - Swan mine opposite - similar arrangement.
You know about the key I take it?

Maps of the cave can (could) be purchased from the Quarryman's arms in Box village. They are produced by the Shepton Mallet Caving Club and can be acquired from them by post, you can also buy them at Bat Products.

I'll PM you entrance locations but you can easily find them by asking any local.

my dad has told me about an entrence behind the tennis courts is that accessible?

That is Back Door, It is normally only to be used as an emergency entrance/exit. The entrance to use is Jack's Workings which is in the woods.

You can park here (orange arrow) and Jack's is down the hill a short distance, turn left along a well trodden path and follow it for some distance, Jacks is in the woods there somewhere, if you can't find it then you probably need to go further. It is a very large entrance!

Have fun.

There are two accessible entrances, both are locked. A third entrance has been permanently grilled.
As Les says use jack's entrance.

Keys can be obtained from your local club, or contact CSCC access officer.

Watch out for bats, plenty hibernating in there in odd places and many still on the wing.

You can get a key from the Quarrymans - there is a £10 deposit, and I wouldn't go round Box without a map & compass. That said, I might see you there as I'm taking Wormster & co round there this afternoon!

If you get a key from the Quarrymans then ask to park there as your car will be much safer.

You are of course morally obliged to quench your thirst there after your trip. A satisfactory conclusion to any Box Mines trip.  (y)
There are lots of maps, photos and artefacts to view in the bar and they always look best over the rim of a pint glass.  ;) ;)

You might meet a group from our club too, they're in there today...

And don't even think about going in there without a survey and compass - or a reliable guide - you will not easily find your way out again.

Glad you had a good trip and even more pleased you had a knowledgeable guide.  (y)
You probably wouldn't have found any of the places of interest without some "local" knowledge.  :-\

-1 point for spelling and -1 point for incorrect earth placement in the solar system.

Back to Box. Everyone visiting box must do there bit, pickup string, T-lites, rubbish, glowsticks etc. Bin bags have been left at Jacks entrance, I shall pick them up at some point. Maps can be brought from Bat Products as well as the Quarrymans. Please report any damage to the gates.
