BPC FIRE AFFAIR

image.jpg
Full disclaimer: I am a massive fan of the BPC hut, phenomenal library, well equipped kitchen and of course the SRT wall.

But who the flying flamingo approved the electric fan heater fire in the living room? A club of such wealth should have an enormous roaring open fire. 0/10 vibes. Sad that the WSG have ventured north of S.Wales.

Until the 18th goes,
Anon.

Because the furniture was being burnt ,because we did not buy logs ! Much safer and no mess to clean up . Less insurance to pay !

Sounds like criminal damage to me, setting a fire inside someone else building.
That may well be the case - I’m not a legal expert - but certainly the ambiance would be greatly improved for a short period, before presumably rapidly declining again.

I will admit that I do like a fire. especially a wood fire, coal might go on for ten times as long but watching a wood fire is bliss.I seem to remember NPC and RRCPC have open fires in action still, anywhere else?

CPC in the “exclusive” “Riverside” (Not in the general bunk house)

Yes. MNRC on the Mendips.
Probably the only open fire at a caving club Hut that is open on four sides. It means it's not so easy for a small group to hog the fire. Plenty of well seasoned logs to burn as opposed to all that quick burn pallet wood stuff etc.
I'm obviously biased but I feel it's the best open fireplace with plenty of character too.
I was trying to find a photo of it for those that haven't visited the MNRS. :)

I remember nights at BPF where the fire in the members kitchen extended out into the middle of the room... It kept you focused on staying up drinking until the bitter end - at least if you can see it, you can make a hasty exit!
