Bristol's "Know your place" to be extended to the south west

Hi all

Most people who like digital maps will know about this site already.

I went to a SGMRG talk last night and was pleased to find that Bristol's know your place website is to be extended to cover the whole of the south west.

The web site provides good quality historical digital maps annotated with points and regions of interest with links to historical documents. The site also supports community contributions from people and groups.

Here is a link to the new web-site map page

The MCRA and local caving clubs have lots information that could contribute to this initiative.

The National Library of Scotland has put online the OS 1:10,560 in all editions from mid C19 to 1948 online (some gaps), many 1" editions, the early 1:25,000, and are gradually putting online the 1:2,500 of England and Wales in all editions down to the end of the county series in the 1940s: the south west is mostly online now but unfortunately NLS lacked a high proportion of the 1st ed sheets.

Truly t'interweb is coming of age.  :)
