This was a really enjoyable trip down an interesting, and only relatively recently discovered part of Easegill. None of the squeezes turned out to be particularly tight, even the backbreaker, which I was a little worried about due to being somewhat lanky! It gave in fairly easily once we worked out the correct way to face (the name is not helpful!). The removal of wellies which is supposedly de rigueur was also of dubious benefit (although not unpleasent )
The hanging death near the junction with the cigalere streamway caused a little bit of concern to myself although thankfully you don't have to get too close.
The Cigalere streamway was brilliant, cristal clear water made avoiding the potholes in the floor fairly easy. The Grand cascade is a superb pitch and we were quite relieved to find that the fixed ropes were both in good condition. Unfortunately the same cannot be said of the crabs on the deviations which required a little persuasion to open and were also a lillte rustier than I would have prefered.
Once in Hall of the Mountain King James was a little suprised to see a mud lady-boy at the top of the chamber (he screamed like a little girl, which made me jump about 12 foot in the air). The amount of effort that has gone into this sculpture is quite incredible by the way.
We aslo failed to find the bypass from Leck fell lane to the Pippikin streamway yet again. Can anybody give us a clue?
The final surprise of the trip was some ice-pretties in the entrance crawl only a few meters from Hobbit Chamber.
