Can anyone tell me what this is?

This fossil is about six inches long and is in County Pot. Can anyone tell me anything about it please.

Not arguing because I don't know a right lot about it but, your link says they are permian, isn't the limestone carboniferous?

There's also a fine example in the wall a few metres down the second pitch in Ireby Fell Cavern - not squashed. They got wiped out in the mass extinction at the end of the Permian, which was a bit devastating for marine life.

Looking at the picture I wonder if it is squashed or just eroded along the long axis at an angle.

Yes - I think you're right. We lose the septa towards the right.

It's quite likely to be Dibunophyllum as these are quite common in the limestones around Leck Fell.  If you want to see some really good specimens have a look in the streambed at Aygill Caverns, they're nicely weathered.
